PERT Program Data Analyses
An essential component of the PERT Program is the testing and refinement of the PERT Curriculum. Participants in the PERT Classes completed numerous questionnaires as the PERT investigators worked to collect the information necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of the program. This data was compiled using the SPSS statistical software program. The results of the data analyses have been summarized into the following categories. Click on the links below for tables and graphs that display the results of these analyses.
- Demographics. Extensive demographic information was collected on the PERT class participants, including gender, primary language, race/ethnicity, and years spent working in long-term care.
- Knowledge Exam. PERT class participants were required to complete an exam evaluating their knowledge and skills in providing end-of-life care. Participants completed the exam both before and after attending the PERT classes, and the scores are compared.
- Self Evaluation. Participants were also asked to evaluate themselves regarding their effectiveness in providing end-of-life care. Their pre-program and post-program scores are compared.
- Supervisor Evaluation. The PERT staff contacted the immediate supervisors for all class participants, and asked the supervisors to evaluate participants' performance prior to and six months following the end of the program.
