As of September 2003, physicians may choose to claim Category II credit for reviewing this material.

Prenatal Cystic Fibrosis Screening
Course Description:
This course is designed to enhance the understanding of prenatal cystic fibrosis screening protocol amongst health care professionals and to effectively identify at-risk patient populations. In Oct. of 2001, the ACOG and the ACMG released clinical and laboratory guidelines for "Preconception and Prenatal Carrier Screening for Cystic Fibrosis." We will introduce the new guidelines.

We expect learners to develop familiarization with the guidelines and the recommendation for who should be offered prenatal CF screening.

Prevention of Neural Tube Defects and Other Health Risks through Folic Acid Education
Course Description:
This course is designed to enhance the understanding of preconceptual folic acid supplementation amongst health care professionals and to effectively identify under-educated patient populations.

We expect learners to develop familiarization with the various health benefits of folic acid supplementation, and we expect participants will want to adopt the guidelines of leading health agencies such as the CDC and NIH pertaining to folic acid use.
